Thomas L. Lowe, MD is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, clinical researcher and previous director (1983-2015) of the Tourette's and Tic Disorders Clinic at UCSF.
Dr. Lowe earned a medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, MI. He completed a residency in general psychiatry at the University of Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital in New York and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Child Study Center at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Child Study Center in movement disorders and developmental disabilities, followed by a faculty position at Yale University. He was recruited to UCSF in 1983.
Dr. Lowe is a retired Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry at UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco, CA.
After completing part-time 'Faculty Recall' for research purposes (2015-2020), Dr. Lowe now maintains a limited practice in
